You’re buying a place with home security alarms
A new home may come with a home security system. All the components function well, are placed in the best areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, just pick up the phone to call and start a new contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to ensure there are no compatibility issues, and they could offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The old homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to your family for a nominal transfer fee to make the process easier. If the outgoing residents are downsizing to a condo or smaller home, transferring the Vivint contract may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and take your existing components with you
You may want to bring your favorite Vivint system with you to your new place when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to accomplish, as many alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can remove each device yourself or use a professional installer to come and dismantle everything. Then our installers will set up the same devices -- and any smart devices you need to add -- in the new home. Your home security contract will keep the same.
